A Great Review for Deity Wedding Venue in Brooklyn

“My husband and I recently had our wedding reception at Deity and not only did we get a great deal, but the owner and staff were excellent! Throughout the night our guests remarked how courteous, attentive, and fast the staff was and how hard they worked to accommodate our needs. The space is beautiful and everyone had a great time. I would enthusiastically recommend this space to anyone.”

5 Star Review for Deity Wedding Venue in Brooklyn in WeddingWire:
“We had our wedding ceremony & reception at Deity this past weekend and it was beyond expectations. The space is sexy and unusual and the three levels all had a specific vibe that was perfect for each stage of the wedding: the upstairs loft where we had the ceremony fit 100+ pp easily. Urban chic with floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed brick, lots of light, plus a serene bridal dressing room. The lounge where we had dinner was sexy with the stained glass, low lighting, lounge seating – perfect for guests mingling and sitting wherever they wanted. The food was delicious – Caio and Kristine tailored their menu offerings to suit our guests’ taste. And the nightclub was tops – DJ Vinnie laid a blanket of funk and delivered just what we wanted – a sexy party with no over-the-top wedding cheeze. Caio and Kristine were hands-on every step of the way and brought a relaxed sense of total ease that made our wedding just what we wanted. Only comment: the wait service just needs to take the cake in the back to carve it up instead of in front of the guests because they were all tipsy and grabby by that time (the guests not the servers) and things got a little bit messy (but still all good). 5+ stars – love these guys, love this place. Highly recommended for weddings, parties, bar/bat mitzvahs – these guys can do anything. Mad props for Deity.”

The Classic Damask Tablecloth can feel “stuffy” to some, overwhelming in pattern to others. However, this traditional style can make a Wedding reception look gorgeous with some Fresh Updates. A sexy night time Red always stands out, but going with a delicate Blush orchid has a more feminine touch. A bold pop of Yellow is a huge 2013 trend and can take the damask look from “old” to now.

10 Star Review about Deity Wedding Venue from a Bride on NYMag.com

“My husband and I held our wedding reception on the gorgeous main floor of Deity. My family came from Turkey and my husbands from the west coast. This was the first time that both sides of the family met and it went really well. The space is very inviting and intimate. The service is impeccable and the food…my family is still talking about it. Love love love the lamb meatballs! My grandmother who is impossible to please loved everything about it. I had a lot of planning to do for my wedding and this was one less thing I had to stress about. The owners are great and really listened to what we wanted for our day. Thank you!!!”

Deity in Downtown Brooklyn has been created, owned, and operated by husband and wife team Caio and Kristine Dunson. Originally built in the mid-1800′s, Deity’s building was a Synagogue throughout the early 1900′s.

file14_2

The Dunsons purchased the building in 2004 as a mostly empty shell, a victim of a harsher New York City time. They enlisted the help of family and friends for a nearly 3 year renovation. Inspired by ancient pagan religions, local Brooklyn Artists were commissioned to create original art for the space, including custom stained glass, goddess light fixtures, an iron gate, and a tree of life centerpiece.

Deity opened as a cocktail Lounge and Nightclub in 2007 and had a successful 5 year run. The Dunsons have once again breathed a new life into the building for 2013 and beyond by becoming a Private Event Space and Wedding Venue.

Saturday June 1 is the First Annual Atlantic Ave Wedding Extravaganza, put on by the Atlantic Ave BID. Deity Wedding and Event Venue would have loved to participate in this event, but the day is full with not just one, but TWO Bar Mitzvahs that Saturday.

But show support to Deity’s Atlantic Ave Neighbors by stopping by some vendors between Hicks and 4th Ave from 10 am – 5 pm including the Amazing Betty Bakery and Opalia Flowers. As well as our great Friend Kimera Design at 366 Atlantic Ave, who will also be in the day’s Scheduled Fashion Show. And be sure stop by Deity and tell Greg at the door “Hi”!

Another 5 Star Yelp Review for Deity Wedding Venue in Brooklyn!

“My wife and I had our wedding here over Memorial Day weekend and we can say that we had an unequivocally great experience. Caio and Christine were amazing hosts, the food was great, and the staff was super attentive. The place has a really fun vibe and the upstairs space was just the right size and atmosphere for a 90 person wedding. The downstairs club area is great for dancing and Deity provided a great DJ.”

Here are a Few More Great Yelp Reviews we would Love to Share:

I would enthusiastically recommend this space to anyone.”

“My partner and I held our commitment celebration at Deity on Friday, September 3rd 2010. We hosted a party of approximately 55 guests, dining between 8pm and 11pm at the Lounge and dancing thereafter at the Underground.
The owners, Caio and Kristine, as well as their staff were professional yet personable and very accommodating. Our event ran seamlessly and everyone left feeling like they experienced a part of Brooklyn nightlife that is typically associated with Manhattan’s upscale night spots.
Breathtaking architecture and dramatic interior aside, this place has positive vibrations for sure. Lovers of old school hip hop, reggae, and R&B hits of yesteryear would have appreciated the DJ’s spinning that night. They were digging in the crates…think Pharcyde, Stevie Wonder, Biggie, Next, Lil’ Vicious…and the list goes on!
Above all else, this is definitely a spot to introduce non-Brooklynites who want to get a feel of what Brooklyn truly encompasses. The Brooklyn fare is dinner sized and reasonably priced as well as the drinks. They offer an unbeatable quote for food, service, drinks, venue use, and VIP access that allowed us to not only feed 55 people but also have our guests enjoy open bar the night through.
This place isn’t about draining your funds or charging up your credit card. No surprises here! It was a pleasure doing business with Caio and Kristine and I highly recommend their establishment without any reservations.”

“If you’re looking for a uniquely Brooklyn wedding, you have to check out Deity. Owned and operated by husband and wife team Ciao and Kristine, they will work with you personally to create the wedding of your dreams. The venue has three distinct floors-an open, airy loft space for the ceremony and two lower lounge-like spaces perfect for cocktails and the reception. My personal favorite is the ground level with it’s stunning stained glass windows and recessed seating area. They also host Bat Mitzvahs and private parties.” – Kimera Design Brooklyn

“A year ago, I visited Deity Event Space with my client that was about to book this space for her mother’s 50th birthday party, unfortunetly she cancelled her event. However, the owners of this space were accommodating, professional, helpful and friendly, and they like to make sure that their clients are receiving good service, which they welcomed us with a glass of wine. Deity is a very unique space to have any event. It gives off a intimate and trendy ambiance. I look forward to working with them soon one day! “- Ms. Fouzia Elidrissi- CEO + Wedding Planner of My Bridal Budget, LLC

From Brooklyn House Love Blog

Deity-Brooklyn-NYC-Front

“Engagement bliss is lovingly lingering however the wedding planning has begun! True to our steadfast Brooklyn roots, we are delightedly planning a Brooklyn wedding!

Deity was our second option. Deity is a club/lounge located on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. It’s a former synagogue that’s been revamped  from protecting the holy and sacrosanct to promoting the corporeal and epicurean. Ah la dolce vita!

Deity is another one of those all-inclusive packages with a beautiful space to boast. The owner, Caio, was super nice and sweet when he took the time to show us around the space. He was so attentive to all of our questions and was sure to make us happy (including my mother who tagged along with her own set of questions; flowers? candles? white linens? a green room? where will we pass the grey poupon?) My mother’s idea of a wedding and my idea of a wedding are both verydifferent. She’d go with the traditional church ceremony and Long Island catering hall. I want a simple, non-denominational, (perhaps outdoor?) ceremony with a view of the city skyline and an intimate restaurant with ample dance space. Compromise is an art my fiance and I are getting better at.”
